Hello readers! I am sorry for being quite behind on my blog posts! Back in November Chris and I went on a spontaneous 4 day roadtrip through Texas through Dallas and on to Arkansas. On the way, we thought it would be fun to stop in towns that are country names as well. We started our journey from Baytown, Texas and made our first trek to Palestine, Texas. Palestine was an adorable little town and the woman at the visitor center was very friendly.
Our next little town we stopped in was Athens, Texas. There wasn't much to see but we found a cool wall mural to snap a pic at!
We made another stop in Trinidad, Texas! This little town was very small and all we found with the town name was a water tower. Our next stop was in Canton, Texas about an hour outside of Dallas, Texas. We happened to make this trip the first weekend of the month so we got to experience the Canton Trade Days, that has claim to the World's Largest Flea Market. This place is massive! We were here for two hours and didn't even cover 10%. They literally sell EVERYTHING from home décor, to corn dogs, to pets. People come for the entire weekend and just shop! It's is a great destination for home decorations and seasonal décor as well.
We finally made it into Dallas around dinner time where I got to meet one of my best friends and her family in the Bishop Heights area for dinner and drinks! This area is so cute and definitely is worth a visit if you are in the area, stop by the De La Fuente party store as well! That night I got to see another one of my good friends and spend some time with her in Plano! (shout outs to Breezy and Bekah if they are reading this!)
The next morning, after a delicious good bye breakfast with Bri, we headed to the Dallas Arboretum. Everyone I talked to loves the Dallas Arboretum, eventhough it was nice, we did not think it was worth it for the price point. It was almost 80 dollars for two of us just to visit the gardens. We did pick a great time to go because we got to see the pumpkin patch and the Christmas 12 Days of Christmas exhibit. We did get this super cute picture so it was kinda worth it!
Our next stop was in Paris, Texas! We had to take a picture under the Eiffel tower!
Our next stop was in Texarkana. We stopped at a dive restaurant called Tacos Mi Pueblo and ate the most authentic Mexican food we've ever had. It was so good! Then we made our way onward to Hot Springs, Arkansas. We spent the night here and called it an early night! The next day we explored Hot Springs. If you are planning on visiting Arkansas I would highly recommend this time of the year. The leaves were changing and it was just an autumn wonderland! We made our way through Hot Springs National Park and just enjoyed the trees.
We had lunch at a diner called the Purple Cow who is famous for their bright purple milkshakes
We also felt the hot water coming from the springs and filled our water bottle up. We then made our way to Little Rock, Arkansas. The first attraction we saw upon arriving was the "Old Mill" site. It is an exact replica of a mill and was used for filming the introduction of Gone With the Wind. It was a beautiful little park with so many photo ops.
We ate dinner at a local brewery that served pizza (One of our favorite vacation foods)
The town of Little Rock does not have much action going on but it has its own charm! The next day we visited the Capitol building of Arkansas! We also visited the park that has the actual "Little Rock"
On the way out we stopped back by Hot Springs to see Anthony Chapel and it was gorgeous. It is a chapel in the woods with glass for walls. It was barely sprinkling which made it magical. This was my favorite stop of the trip!
We powered through the six hour drive home in one day, but we did stop in Carthage, Texas and Moscow, Texas on the way for two last photo ops!
Sometimes you just need a mini road trip vacay! And Chris got to cross off another capital and I got to see Arkansas for the first time! It was a great trip!
